Elizabeth Olsen loves playing morally questionable characters – Actus Ciné | Film-News.co.uk

Elizabeth Olsen enjoys playing characters who behave in ways that people might disagree with.

When the WandaVision actress takes on morally questionable characters, she likes to defend their actions as if she were their lawyer.

“I love playing characters that people don’t agree with,” she told British magazine Harper’s Bazaar. “In a world where we don’t really care about understanding other points of view, I feel like if we as an audience can have empathy for people we’re not with okay, that’s a good thing… So I can kind of be their advocate and defend them. I’m behind their actions, even if I don’t agree with them.”

Elizabeth’s longtime Marvel character Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch sometimes falls into this category, particularly in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, and she recently wrapped filming Love and Death, in which she stars ax murderer Candy Montgomery.

“I loved playing with her,” she praised. “People were like, ‘Are you going to play it as a sociopath?’ And I was like, ‘No, why would I do that? I’m going to try to figure out how someone could compartmentalize this until they get caught.’

Along with acting, Elizabeth has also started producing, starting with the 2018 series Sorry for Your Loss, and she can’t get enough of her new role.

“I’m addicted to it; and when I’m not even producing, I pretend I am – I’m probably horrible to work with! I say “horrible”, but people say it’s okay… But I really crossed the line as an actor. I want to know about all the projects,” she said.
