The awards honored films that screened during the 2021 season. With stories ranging from comedy to documentary to experimental, the “Best of the Midwest Showcase” will have something for everyone. The screening will begin at 7:15 p.m. with six short films. Audience members can then enjoy a short intermission to network with the filmmakers and other attendees. The screening will resume with a feature film followed by a Q&A session with the filmmaker.

The Midwest Film Festival (formerly the Midwest Independent Film Festival) has been a staple of Chicago’s film community for 15 years. In early 2020, it reinvented itself with a new name and perspective, facilitated by new executive director Erica Duffy. Two years and a pandemic era later, the Festival is thriving by bringing together the Chicago film community and reinstating the traditional first Tuesdays… and will have festival screenings every month on that day.
