Joe Keery, Camila Morrone and Aldis Hodge have been cast in “Marmalade”.
The trio have been revealed as the stars of Keir O’Donnell’s romantic drama, which is set to wrap production in Minnesota.
The film will mark O’Donnell’s directorial debut after numerous acting appearances, including “Wedding Crashers”, “American Sniper” and “Ambulance”.
Also attached to the film is cinematographer Polly Morgan, who worked on the upcoming films ‘Where the Crawdads Sing’ and ‘The Woman King’.
O’Donnell wrote the screenplay for “Marmalade,” which centers on a naïve small-town man who finds himself in prison and tells the story of a romantic bank robbery to his cunning cellmate so that he can escape and find the love of his life.
The film is produced by James Harris and Mark Lane of Tea Shop Productions with Sarah Gabriel and Marc Goldberg under the Signature Films banner.
Joe stars in the hit Netflix series ‘Stranger Things’ and also worked with Ryan Reynolds on the 2021 film ‘Free Guy’ – where he was impressed by the ‘Deadpool’ star.
The 30-year-old star said: “I was quite blown away because he makes it look really easy.
“And what he does is hard. No one can do it. It just gave me a deep appreciation for him and all his work he’s done so far.”
Keery revealed how he pays close attention to how Ryan behaves in front of and behind the camera.
He explained, “As a kind of lead actor. (Ryan) just set a tone of early collaboration and comfort. I guess he’s probably aware that people are nervous about meeting him. . And, right away, he’s very disarming and really puts you at ease.”
