Neve Campbell once survived a bear attack on a film set when she was 17.
During an interview on The Kelly Clarkson Show, the 48-year-old actress shared details surrounding the incident without naming the movie.
“I was playing this role where (my character is) ‘one with the animals’ and there was a scene where I was being chased by a bear,” the Scream star said. “They brought this bear to the set and first they gave me this big bottle of Coke to feed it, so now it’s a sugar rush bear. (After they fed it) they told me to dip your hand in honey and run. And when you get to the tree there, turn around and reach out and feed the bear.”
Campbell said she followed their instructions, but when she turned to feed the animal the honey, the bear didn’t slow down.
“He grabs me by the leg and he pulls me through the forest,” The Craft star continued. “My mom was visiting on set and she’s screaming. The whole crew is frozen because no one can believe what’s going on. All I could think of to say was, ‘He’s biting me’ , as if it weren’t obvious.”
The bear hunter on set eventually saved her by throwing rocks at the animal. The attack only left her without a major injury and she even offered to try again as they didn’t film her.
