Vijay Deverakonda once denied Karan Johar’s Bollywood film

Vijay Deverakonda is doing everything in his power to ensure the success of his upcoming sports drama, Liger. The Arjun Reddy actor was present at a press conference in Hyderabad yesterday as part of the campaign. He shared how he got his first Bollywood movie throughout the chat. He reportedly said, “After watching Arjun Reddy, Karan Johar offered me to do a Bollywood movie, then I wasn’t ready, and now we approached Liger because he has the pan-Indian appeal. He supported us well in all aspects.

Speaking at a promotional event in Mumbai, he spoke about his character in the film: “My character in the film has a stuttering problem and that made it more interesting,” Vijay said. “On the one hand, he’s the guy who’s so physically strong and intimidating to other people, he’s a fighter, but he can’t even say the simple three words ‘I love you’ to the girl that he likes.”

Liger has already garnered a lot of interest nationwide as it nears its August 25 release date. Along with Ronit Roy playing his instructor and Ramya Krishna playing his mother in this action-comedy, which also has legendary boxer Mike Tyson in a lengthy cameo, VD plays an MMA fighter with a speech impediment. Ananya Panday plays her love. The project, directed by Puri Jagannadh and funded by Dharma Productions, was shot simultaneously in Hindi and Telugu. It will be published in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam.
