Zac Efron has revealed that the process he went through to get his Baywatch body had “angry” him for months.

The High School Musical actor is currently gearing up for an as-yet-unannounced role, but he’s not planning on looking as torn as he did in the movie Baywatch of 2017 because he does not want to go through this process again. .

“That Baywatch look, I don’t know if it’s really doable. There’s just too little water in the skin. Like, it’s fake, it looks like CGI,” he admitted to the magazine. Men’s Health. “And it required Lasix, strong diuretics, to do that. So I don’t have to do that. I’d much rather have an extra, you know, two to three percent body fat.”

In addition to taking diuretics, which increase water excretion from the body, Zac was training too much, not getting enough sleep, and eating the same three meals every day. The negative effects of his Baywatch training lasted six months after filming ended.

“I started developing insomnia and fell into a pretty bad depression for a long time,” he said candidly. “Something about that experience burned me. I had a really hard time refocusing. In the end, they put it down to taking way too many diuretics for too long, and it ruined something. thing.”

The 34-year-old reassessed his attitude towards fitness when he took an extended break in Australia and let himself lose form for the first time in his professional life.

“At one point, it was a dream of mine – what it would be like to not have to be in shape all the time,” Zac explained. “What if I just said ‘F**k it’ and let myself go? So I tried, and I succeeded. And for all the reasons I thought it would be amazing, I was just miserable. My body wouldn’t feel healthy; I just didn’t feel alive. I felt bogged down and sluggish.

He has found that he enjoys working out and feels more like himself when he works out – but now he does it in a more conscious way.
